Linda Babington
Trustee
Linda has always had a natural interest in people and a strong ability to listen and offer support. After completing a relationship counselling course, she developed valuable experience helping people explore their own circumstances, ask the right questions and make decisions that were right for them. Throughout her varied working life, her roles have continued to centre around meeting, listening to and supporting people from all walks of life.
Linda first met Annette and became aware of GNHCT almost a decade ago, when her youngest grandson, Finlay, became seriously unwell with Lyme disease. After struggling to have his condition recognised, the family met Annette at a conference while searching for answers. Finlay lost more than three years of schooling and had to give up the physical activities he loved due to a severe lack of energy. Following appropriate testing and treatment, he has since made a full recovery and is doing well.
That experience gave Linda and her family a deep appreciation of the importance of being listened to, finding the right support and helping those affected by complex illnesses. Linda has great respect for the work of Annette and the GNHCT team and is extremely honoured to serve as a Trustee for GNHCT in Scotland.
Dr. Armin Schwarzbach
Medical Advisor
“I am delighted to come on board Lyme Disease GNHCT Scotland as Medical Advisor. This charity is trying its best to improve the quality of those afflicted by Lyme Disease.”
Dr. Armin Schwarzbach is a specialist in laboratory medicine and infectious diseases from Augsburg, Germany. He has been working in the field of diagnostic tests for Borrelia burgdorferi and co-infections for more than 20 years. He has tested more than 20,000 patients for different tick-borne diseases and multiple infections.
Having acquired a broad range of expertise, Dr. Schwarzbach recognized the problem of insensitivities and lacking standardization with regard to Borrelia burgdorferi antibody ELISA- and immunoblot-tests. He accomplished this by comparing these test results with the patients’ typical symptoms for Lyme disease.
Dr. Schwarzbach is also a member of the German Borreliosis Society, the Swiss Association for Tick-borne diseases, the German Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, the German Society for Medical Laboratory Specialists (DGKL) and the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association.
